Will disabling outlook "cached mode" actually delete data files ?
I have to be 100% sure that if, disabling outlook 2007 cached mode on clients of my organization, will delete files locally stored on the client. In short I have to do: 1) Disable cached mode on client (hoping it will reset to ZERO bit the mailbox) 2) Do some works on server 3) Enable cached mode on client (hoping it will download again from server the new/modified emails) Is it possible and/or like I am describing ? Thanks.

Hi,Disabling Outlook cached mode will not delete the .ost files, associated pst files or the offline address book. You can test this easily by creating a second mail profile. Robert

You can create new outlook profile in cache Mode. Do some send and receive email.Change the mode from cache mode to online.and then confirm.... And yes as RTEAL said it doesn't delete the local store data.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Yes, perhaps I explained bad what I am trying to do. So, deleting the entire profile will delete all mail data files, right ? What about PST that could be attached to the profile ... what happens to them when I delete profile ? Really thanks for help.

They wont delete the attached PST files because profile only has the information about the PST path... so you have to delete them manually.
